Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi has urged the nations celebrating Nowruz in the Asian region to take concrete actions to halt the Israeli regime’s assaults on the beleaguered Gaza Strip. In his New Year message, Raeisi emphasized that Nowruz symbolizes peace, coexistence, and reconciliation, yet Gaza’s people are enduring relentless attacks and a crippling blockade imposed by the Zionist regime, leaving them deprived of basic necessities and facing the threat of famine. Raeisi called on the countries within the Nowruz civilization zone to fulfill their humanitarian duty by halting the Zionist regime’s aggression and providing vital assistance to Gaza’s oppressed population.
The conflict in Gaza escalated after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in response to intensified Israeli aggression. Since then, the Israeli regime’s onslaught has resulted in the deaths of over 31,819 Palestinians and injuries to 73,792 others. The blockade imposed by Israel has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with the United Nations warning of severe food shortages and famine, particularly affecting children.
In a separate address to the Iranian people, President Raeisi praised Gaza’s steadfast resistance against the brutal Israeli attacks, noting that despite the global powers’ support for Israel, the people of Gaza have remained resilient. He highlighted his administration’s economic achievements, including a six percent increase in the economic growth rate and attracting $11 billion in foreign direct investment. Raeisi affirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries, Latin America, and Africa, and emphasized the country’s continued economic growth in the new year, pledging to prioritize production, economic development, and serving the people.
